Schedule of the tour
DAY 1: Venezia – Udine
Arrival at Venice Airport. Pick up of the rental car (if requested – upon supplement). Arriving in a farmhouse in Udine. Overnight.
DAY 2: Cividale – Cormons – Gorizia – I Grandi Vini Del Collio
Breakfast. During the morning, short trip to Cividale a nice small town located close to the Slovenian border. Cividale was founded by Giulius Caesar and it is a UNESCO Heritage.
Proceed for Collio area where the homonym wine is produced. Wewill reach Cormons and visit a family ruled cellar to taste their wines – Free lunch.
In the afternoon, we will reach Gorizia a fascinating town to visit is ancient part, Borgo Castello with its monuments. Back to the farmhouse. Overnight.
DAY 3: Castello di Miramare – Trieste
Breakfast. Leaving for Trieste and before reaching it, stop to visit Castello di Miramare build in 1860. Trieste is the Italian best town for coffee and it is worth to visit its coffees / bar where you can also enjoy a nice lunch- Trieste has ancient Roman ruins, Augsburg buildings, Neoclassic Liberty Palaces and a cosmopolitan atmosphere that make it unique. Have dinner to a local ‘Osteria’ to taste sea fruits as long as local white wines. Back to the hotel and overnight.
DAY 4: Prosciutto San Daniele – Amanuensis – Barbatelle
Breakfast, leaving for San Daniele where we visit a place where the famous ham, ‘Prosciutto di San Daniele’ is done.
After that, we will reach Ragogna to visit the castle and the Scriptorium Foroiuliense – Scuola Italiana Amanuense -that created the Opificium Librorum a living museum of amanuensis art.
At the end of this tour, you will reach Raucedo where there is the biggest vineyard complex in the world. Back to the farmhouse. Overnight.
DAY 5: Spilimbergo – Venzone
Breakfast, then leaving to visit Spilimbergo and its mosaic school. Then you will reach Venzone that had been completely destroyed by the earthquake in 1976 and rebuild exactly as it was. This little village is surrounded by the Alps.
Stop on your way for a wine tasting, in this area they product Friuli Grave, Piculit and Prosecco!
Back to the farmhouse. Overnight.
DAY 6: Palmanova – Aquileia- Grado
Breakfast. Leaving for Palmanova the ideal Renaissance town that has the size of a star. At the end of this tour you reach Aquileia that is a UNESCO Heritage where you have to visit the Basilica and its mosaic dated IV century. Also visit the archaeological center of what it was known as ‘a second Rome’
Addressing yourself toward the South you reach Marano Lagoon and the Island of Grado. Back to the farmhouse. Overnight.
DAY 7: Arrivederci Friuli!
After breakfast you will reach the Venice Aiport. Release of the car (if requested). End of our services.
